When you receive consumables at your location from an order, it's important to:
- Record that they have arrived
- Label them
- Store them in the correct place
Silo has specific functionality to mark items as received and automatically print their labels. Silo will also tell you where you should put each item.
What's in the box? Watch out for different box types
Boxes with one item type
Some shipping boxes you'll receive contain only one type of item - a case of items from a vendor. If you know exactly what's inside, you don't need to open it before you label it.
Boxes with multiple item types
When you receive a box from Amazon or other online retailers, it normally has multiple types of items inside, and you need to open the box to see what's within. Normally you will label the boxes within, rather than the shipping box.
Receiving on the Mobile App
On the mobile app, enter the "Receive" area with the center down-arrow icon.
In the Receive screen, you can see a list of vendors for whom you have outstanding items waiting for delivery, from orders you have placed. Tap a vendor to see all the items you are waiting for from that vendor, then tap an item to mark how many cases have been received.
After you have marked how many cases are received, Silo will print labels for you to stick on the cases. Place the labels on the cases, and put them in the indicated location:
Now the items are recorded in Silo, your stock levels are updated, and you're good to go.
Receiving on the Web App
On the web application, you can see your Awaiting Orders on your Dashboard, or by visiting the Orders page and filtering by status - set to Awaiting.
Received all items?
If you know you have received all the items in the order, you can click 'Receive' on the orders list.
Received some items
If you know you have only received some items, click the Order record to open up the details window. You can then click Receive next to each item.
Place the labels on the cases, and put them in the location indicated conveniently on the label. Now the items are recorded in Silo, your stock levels are updated, and you're good to go.
